ETRO was founded in 1968 in Milan, Italy, by brand founder Gimmo Etro. He transformed the intricate and luxurious paisley pattern (a multicolored swirl design) and paired it with vibrant and striking colors on materials such as silk, satin, cashmere, and linen, which allowed ETRO to shine in the fashion world. What’s often discussed is that ETRO started as a textile design company, and it has since evolved into a leading fashion brand. Today, ETRO is managed by two generations of the ETRO family. In addition to design and production, the brand has expanded into home decor, leather goods, and fragrance collections.
